There is a hook for whatever heavy lift may need to be done. I’ve never seen it in operation. I suppose it’s been retired like many of us. It just sits there.

The Cloisters, Manhattan, New York - Mamiya NC1000 - The Cloisters, also known as the Met Cloisters, is a museum in Fort Tryon Park in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City, specializing in European medieval art and architecture, with a focus on the Romanesque and Gothic periods.

Ellis Island, New York - Mamiya NC1000 - The "Stairs of Separation" is the dreaded staircase that divided some immigrant families. This staircase was divided into 3 sections. If the immigrant passed both inspections, made it into America, and was heading to New Jersey and the train, he/she went down 1 section. If they passed and were heading to NY, they would have taken a separate section. If they failed either medical or legal inspection, they were required to take the 3rd and final middle staircase, the detainee staircase. Now, look at the wear in the stone from millions of immigrant feet. That’s what I wanted!

Henry House Entrance - Manassas, Virginia - Nikon D300 - The First Battle of Bull Run or First Manassas occurred July 21, 1861. The main focus of action, lasting most of the afternoon took place on Henry House Hill named for the residence of Isaac and Judith Carter Henry that sat near the crest of the hill. By the time of the battle Isaac had been dead years before and his 85-year old widow had the dubious distinction of becoming one of the first civilians killed in the war. The structure on Henry House Hill is a reconstruction, built by the family after the original was destroyed in the war.
